Restaurante el Kiosko

Restaurant El kiosko
Restaurant El kiosko

Situated right on the banks of the Conde de Guadalhorce reservoir and just a few kilometers from El Chorro, this once tiny bar (kiosko) serving drinks in the 1950’s is now an enormous bar restaurant with a capacity for over 400 people eating at the same time.

With plenty of parking and fantastic views of the surrounding scenery and just opposite access down to the lake. you are only a a five minute walk taking  you to the reservoir dam and past the kings chair cut from Stone.

Restaurant Kioskos menu is extensive and serves traditional meat dishes such as  pork cheeks, wild boar in red wine and grilled lamb chops. There are plenty of salads and egg based dishes for vegetrians and the home made puddings and sweets are of exceptional quality. Flans, the house pudding, crema catalana)  homemade coconut cake and homemade almond tart to name just a few. The owners and staff are very friendly and experienced so a stop over here for lunch or dinner is well worth it. All in all a highly recommended place to eat close to El Chorro, the Camino del Rey and Guadalhorce reservoirs.

El Kiosko website is in Spanish but its worth a look to get an idea of the place and the photos of the food and surroundings speak for themselves.

Bar la Cantina

This is a great little bar if you just want to stop off for a beer, a tapas and a rest whilst taking in the amazing atmosphere around the dam of the Guadalhorce reservoir… It is situated right on top of the dam a hundred metres away from the Meson del Conde. The only slight issue with this place is that it’s opening hours seem a bit hit and miss. However, if it is open when you pass by and you don’t feel like a big sit down meal then this is a great option. Service is a bit slow but the staff are very friendly and the various home made tapas are very tasty.

Meson del Conde (Presa de Guadalhorce)

Probably my favorite place to eat in the area of El Chorro, the Camino del Rey and Guadalhorce reservoirs, this restaurant is situated just a hundred metres from the Dam of the Guadalhorce reservoir. There is ample parking and the service and quality of food is exceptional.

Meson del Conde
Meson del Conde – Presa de Guadalhorce.

The  menu is based on the traditional Mediterranean diet with excellent salads and other starters (vegetarians can eat here without a problem) and highly recommended are the chefs specialties such as the melt in the mouth lamb shoulder with honey and a large variety of other meats as well popular game dishes such as rabbit, wild boar and deer.

Add to this the general friendliness of the staff and the attention to detail in the restaurant itself, if you are traveling through this area then this should be the place to stop off for an afternoon meal.

However, for an even bigger treat why not also stay in the adjoining hotel the Posada del Conde. Book a room and enjoy the peace and quiet of a high quality hotel, great food and the peace and quiet of the Guadalhorce reservoirs. See more about the hotel and reserve your room here.
