If you are staying in Malaga, this is a great way to visit the Caminito del Rey. You can purchase a ticket combining train, bus and the entrance to the path on any of the ticket vending machines at train stations in Malaga. All the information regarding the steps to follow when buying the tickets can be read on the poster located next to the machines.
Important! You can only buy tickets on the same day you are going. the ticket machine is open from 6am to 09:15 every day except Monday (when the Caminito del Rey is closed)
There are 100 tickets available each day with 30 allocated for guided tours and 70 for self guided tours. Prices are 23 euros sin guía (without a guide) and 31 euros con guía (with a guide)
Its in Spanish but fairly straight forward to follow.

I am getting a lot of emails from confused people that they can’t “find” where to reserve their tickets on the “official” website for the Caminito del Rey. This also confused me at first untill I looked up the .com and .es websites and who owns them.
First, lets make things really clear. THERE IS ONLY ONE WEBSITE (THE OFFICIAL ONE) WHERE YOU CAN RESERVE YOUR TICKETS) and that is www.caminitodelrey.info
caminitodelrey.com is privately owned and has nothing to do with the official website. Same for .es so if you accidentally go to the .com or the .es and get confused it’s not your fault. They are deliberately misleading.
This (my) website www.caminodelrey.es is also privately owned by me and yes, I earn money when you click an ad or reserve a hotel via this site but it is designed to help people having difficulty with the official website with in depth instructions and up to date information about the area. There is a big difference between this website and the other two unoficial ones.
The caminitodelrey.es website is simply taking advantage of peoples unawareness and is designed that you contact them so that they can “arrange” the visit and your hotel/restaurant for you. It is annoying as especially a lot of the info on the site is copied and pasted from the official website and is outdated to the point of being useless. An example is that the site still says you can access the caminito by both entrances and this is simply not the case.
I will repeat… THERE IS ONLY ONE WEBSITE (THE OFFICIAL ONE) WHERE YOU CAN RESERVE YOUR TICKETS) and that is www.caminitodelrey.info
For anyone interested, you can find out info, like who owns and runs a domain by using a whois search… I use this one http://whois.domaintools.com/
Info on getting your tickest on this website is here…
Tickets are now available right up to the end of January 2017 for walking the Caminito del Rey.
There is also now a guided tour option on the booking page and as all the information is in Spanish, One must assume that the guided tour is in spanish as well.
Presumably the web site and the guided tours will be correctly published and supplied in at least English in the near future. As of now it seems the emphasis is on the Spanish language even though a large proportion of visitors are international.
Info on how to book your ticket here…
The booking portal for the Caminito del Rey has now made available all dates up to and including the 30th of September 2015. There is also and English language option at the top right of the portal.
