UPDATE 15/05/2020 – Looking at the official website, as expected, the Caminito del Rey remains closed untill further notice.
There has been an announcement from the Malaga tourist board stating that the Caminito del Rey will re-open up it’s online reservation system for tickets on the 14th of May. They say that the walkway itself will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from the 29th of May.
Now, we must remember that Spain is in the process of de-escalating the state of emergency from the coronavirus outbreak. We have been in “phase 0” for 2 weeks and “phase 1” with further relaxation of laws starts on Monday the 11th of May 2020.
Yesterday, the Andalucian goverments said that all regions in Andalucia will enter into “phase 1” on the 11th of May EXCEPT the provinces of MALAGA and GRANADA. This means of course that the Caminito del Rey (in the province of Malaga) will probably not open at the end of May.
Each “phase” must last at least 2 weeks so the delay in moving from Phase 0 to phase 1 in Malaga province will certainly delay the reopening of the Caminito del Rey in May 2020
I’ve been living in this lovely area of Western Andalucia for the last 20 years or so and dedicate most of my time to the running of English language tourist information websites for the towns of Cádiz, Ronda, Grazalema, the famous or infamous Caminito del Rey, and also Wildside Holidays, which promotes sustainable and eco-friendly businesses running wildlife and walking holidays in Spain.
